Russ Chapman’s “Benelux” showcases musical elements from the 11 places he’s called home—acoustic swagger from his native Texas, Oahu’s strummy ukuleles, and Cali pop arrangements. The multi-instrumentalist’s solo offering reflects years of behind-the-scenes work with artists as diverse as Shooter Jennings and Kid Ink. Standout track “Muhuhaha” is a bouncing ode to unrepentant troublemakers, while “Friday Girls” comically explores envy with nods to Alt-Country and 80’s Hip Hop.
